Damien Doherty


Damien began dancing for his own grandmother, renowned Irish dance coach Ita Cadwell, at the tender age of 4 years old in Dublin, Ireland and followed a family tradition of dancing.

After years of concentrating on a football career, Damien returned to dancing for both the Smith-Houlihan Academy in Boston and the famous O’Shea School in Dublin.

During his competitive career, Damien danced at the highest level winning many titles along the way. His highlights include World and All-Ireland titles in team events and achieving top 4 in both the World and All-Irelands in solo events. Damien also held numerous regional titles.

In 1998, Damien was asked to join Michael Flatly’s ‘Lord of The Dance’ where he stayed for 9 years. Damien was principal dancer, dancing the role previously made famous by Michael himself. Damien would also go on to dance as Michael’s understudy in both ‘Feet of Flames’ and ‘Celtic Tiger’ where Damien was also the dance captain. His highlight was dancing to an audience of over 100,000 people in Budapest, Hungary.

In 2007, Damien was asked to join Riverdance and is currently performing with them as well as being a principal dancer for ‘Ragus’ the show. He has danced all over the world and for many celebrities and dignitaries.
