Julian Benson a B.A. Graduate in English and Psychology from University College Dublin, is a fluent Irish speaker and began his training in Western Australia at the Performing Arts School. It was there that he mastered the art of modern, jazz, tap, vocal production, musical theatre, ballet and Latin American. He has performed in and choreographed numerous stage and television productions including “The Nutcracker” with The Scottish Ballet (The Point Theatre) and “Sleeping Beauty” at The Point Theatre.
He has also performed in the United Arab Emirates where he was responsible for the staging and choreography of the Irish International show “Celtic Fusion”. Backed by some of the world’s leading global brands such as Nokia, Budweiser and Louis Vuitton to name but a few, he has produced and choreographed many profile fashion and dance events including the Irish fashion,music and dance television special at the RDS featuring international supermodels, Tyra Banks, Jodie Kidd, Sophie Dahl and tennis star Anna Kournikova. He has also staged many royal and high profile events including the “Crown Ball” for HRH Princess Anne.
Julian has acted as creative consultant and performance coach for Universal Records and was A&R and Creative Director for the platinum selling CD, “The Greatest GAA Album Ever” featuring some of Ireland’s top selling artists.
His company, Julian Benson Management represents some of Ireland’s leading acting, vocal and dance talent and has been at the forefront of staging some of Ireland’s major musical theatre and dance workshops. Julian has worked alongside some of the West End and Broadway’s leading stars including celebrity vocal coach, Zoe Tyler, ballet master Wayne Sleep and international hip-hop legend, Kevin Maher (Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey).
Many of the agency clients have worked alongside such acting luminaries as Brendan Gleeson, Patrick Bergin, Anne Hathaway and Ben Kingsley. Clients have also appeared in The Tudors (Showtime), Hollyoaks (ITV), The Clinic (RTE), The L Word (Showtime) and Stargate Atlantis (MGM) amongst others. Agency clients include, Channel 4, BBC, Sky Television, ITV, CBS, RTÉ, TG4, TV3, The Abbey and Gate Theatre Dublin.
He also had the honour of producing and staging the 60th birthday concert for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber with the RTE Concert Orchestra in the National Concert Hall, Dublin. Julian is artistic director of the Starstruck Stage School and was a celebrity judge on RTE’s talent show, ‘Class Act’ alongside Ireland’s leading vocal coach, Dr.Veronica Dunne.He is also a member of the Association of Professional Dancers Ireland (A.P.D.I).
